… O VIDEOCONFERENCIA POR SKYPE

Tengo una amiga, Elena Casero, abogada en el Tribunal de Estrasburgo. Esta amiga, ha impulsado junto con una compañera Marta Cabrera, y con el apoyo de la Jueza Laffranque, un grupo donde los profesionales del Tribunal de Estrasburgo pueden hablar y escuchar sobre la relación de los Derechos Humanos y el Teatro. Tuve la suerte de que me invitaran a su primera sesión para hablar sobre cómo trabajamos esta relación desde el Cross Border. Y volví a los inicios, a De Fuente Ovejuna a Ciudad Juárez y ese grupo de artistas que era el mundo entero en un escenario, para hablar de la violencia contra la mujer.

Fue un lujo, poder estar en mi casa en Madrid, y conectarme vía skype con el Tribunal, para contar y que me contaran.

Es necesario que los mundos se acerquen: que para las gentes del Tribunal dejemos de ser titiriteros y ellos dejen de ser burócratas para nosotros, porque ambos trabajamos con el mismo objetivo. 

La Jueza Laffranque, ha escrito estas palabras después de la sesión que tuvimos, las compartimos aquí, cómo símbolo de que ese puente entre ambos mundos empieza a construirse:

We learned how Golden Age can be adapted to the current problems in Mexico; that we cannot talk about reality without reality; how difficult it is to educate through art; how to use fiction to create empathy within the audience; what impact the play about gender violence, which is a global problem, has had, in particular on the work of Human Rights Department of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the development of the term “Femicide”; how one can create feelings with taking off shoes and whether the audience stayed at the end to read from screen all the names of victims.

In addition we also shared the funny things we like to do secretly and talked about the World Toilet Organization as well as the new project of Lucia inspired by the “Doll’s House” of Ibsen.

As I mentioned Yesterday, although the first session of Theatre Club took place not on international theatre day 27th of March, but on 28th of May, it is interesting to note that on the same day: 28th of May, back in 1937 The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco was opened. Therefore we hope that we also opened a bridge Yesterday, a bridge between theatre and human rights! Let’s continue to further develop this bridge. As William Shakespeare has put it: “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”
